Note: FabLight is not responsible for damage from any machine shipped this way, even if you followed these directions precisely.

There are a few main considerations to keep in mind when moving the FabLight any significant distance.
  • The FabLight is designed to be forklifted, but if forklifting is necessary please be as gentle as reasonably possible while doing so.
  • The gantry, cutting head, and bed must all be secured to prevent damage from accelerations during shipping
    • We secure the gantry on the front side by wrapping zip ties around the roller bearing and tracing them through the gap at the end of the rail mic 6 plate. Shown here with the idler for the rotary secured as well

alternatively you can support it along the back of the rail follower bracket
    • We secure the back of the gantry by zip tying the E chain support through this hole in the far right side of the top of the X Axis and around the outside
    • We secure the cutting head by zip tying the focus box to the X-Axis Encoder Bracket
    • Lastly we secure the bed by pushing it as far back as it goes then installing the bed shipping board using two of the holddown screws
Note: If you no longer have the board that came with your FabLight please do not make a replacement out of metal.
  • During shipping all 4 screwdown feet should be down
    • screw each foot down until the wheel starts to turn freely, then unscrew the foot until the wheel just barely doesn't so that the weight is distributed between the feet and the wheels.
  • Secure the FabLight using tie-down straps so that the feet aren't the only thing keeping it from transverse movement. You may wish to use padding to prevent the straps possibly damaging the coating.
